| 12th April 2008 | District Cub Swimming
Gala at Pontypool This was the first time this event had been held for Cubs and our chances did not look good when only four Cubs turned up - at least we had enough for a relay! The event was well attended with over fifty Cubs from across Torfaen. Events were split into two age ranges - A for those in school years 3 and 4 and B for those in school years 5 an 6. The gala comprised individual races for backstroke, breaststroke and crawl as well as a 4 X 1 freestyle relay. There was a walking race for non-swimmers and a width freestyle for beginners. There were also three fun races including a ball relay, bowl relay and pass ball relay. The results were as follows. 4W Ball Relay (A&B ages) - 1st place Henllys 4W Bowl Relay (A&B ages) - 1st place Henllys 4W Pass Ball Relay (A&B ages) - 2nd place Henllys 1L Backstroke (A ages) - 1st & 2nd place Henllys 1L Backstroke (B ages) - 1st place Henllys 1L Breaststroke (A ages) - 1st place Henllys 1L Breaststroke (B ages) - 1st place Henllys 1L Crawl (A ages) - 1st place Henllys 1L Crawl (B ages) - 1st place Henllys 4L Freestyle Relay (A&B ages) - 1st place Henllys 1L Freestyle (Leaders) - 3rd place Henllys There was a shield for the team with the most points overall and not surprisingly Henllys won this. Which all goes to show that it is effort and not quantity which is required. Well done to all who took part and a big thank you for turning up! |

| 19th - 21st July 2002 | District Camp at
Islwyn A brilliant weekend was had by all and the sun shone throughought. Sixteen cubs attended this camp and all said it was their best camp ever! This seemed to be mostly down to the generous postions of food available at all times of day and night! The cubs enjoyed activities such as orienteering, shelter building, backwoods cooking, arts and crafts to name a few. A camp fire was organised for the last night and a water fight for the afternoon before they left. This was an opportunity for the children to meet cubs from other packs in the district and do activites with them. The camp was a great success and we look forward to District Camp in 2003!! |
